Living a Chaotic Life
Many people in our society lead chaotic lives. Is it work/life balance? The inability to manage stress and emotions? Lack of peace within yourself? Turbulent relationships? Procrastination? Unruly kids? Lack of time management? Lack of happiness and joy? Too many things on your plate?
These questions are something to ask yourself if you find your life spiraling out of control.
Life should not be a chaotic situation because we only have one life, which is meant for peace, love, enjoyment, productivity and abundance.
The problem is, we accept the craziness of everyday life without realizing how detrimental it is to our overall health.
The sooner we can understand how valuable a healthy and balanced life is, the sooner we can appreciate it too.
Procrastination
Procrastination causes a chaotic life. Procrastination actually can be a mental block you have that is related to fear: fear of failure, fear of success, fear of not being good enough.
Find Peace and Balance in Your Life
Stop procrastinating and get your life together! … How can you do this?
5 ways to stop procrastinating:
Step 1. Get your day started right
Â
Establishing a morning routine is a key component to having a productive day. Your entire day is controlled by the tone set in your morning routine. When your day begins with chaos, it can be hard to keep on track. Start each day with a healthy breakfast and make your morning routine the time of your day to get yourself organized. Go over your agenda, review your priorities, and check your inbox to see if any of your priorities need to be adjusted for the day. Spend a few minutes writing to focus your mind and envision your goals for the day. Start a gratitude journal and every morning write just one thing that you are grateful for. Make sure your morning routine sets the tone for your day and that you are consistent in how you spend this time each day. Consistency is key.
Step 2. Set priorities
Â
It can be hard to know where to start when you have so much to do. Make a list of everything that you need to do or accomplish, then give each a priority level. Urgent items are rated highly while tasks that are less significant or can wait are ranked lower. Rearrange the list to put the necessary and urgent items on top, with the least important ones at the bottom. Using a digital app or word processing program can make this easier. Making a list sometimes can be overwhelming and make you procrastinate. Simplify your list. Write down just the top three items that you will give your attention to for that day.
3. Stay focused
Distractions are a productivity killer. Keep your focus on each task as you complete it, without the noise of other priorities, social media, emails, or other distractions. Be sure you have the right environment for maintaining focus. Taking breaks is essential to being able to maintain your focus for sustained periods but be sure your break time activities don’t spill over into your dedicated work time. Staying focused will help you accomplish more, giving you more attention to devote to other goals or leisure time later.
4. Track your time
Â
Knowing how you spend your time can be extremely helpful in managing your time efficiently. Try a tracking app for one week to monitor your behaviors, then analyze where you spend and where you waste your time. This can help you identify possible unconsidered priorities, distractions that are eating away at your time, and help you eliminate times of lowered productivity. Tracking can also be helpful when determining parts of your day when you are under-utilizing your time. You can find ways to incorporate necessary but mundane tasks into other activities, such as exercise or cooking.
 5. Reflect and plan
Â
No matter how well your plans are executed each day, it is essential to reflect every night to determine what went well and what you need to focus on for the next day. Reward yourself for your accomplishments and consider what you learned from setbacks or obstacles. Reflection can help you work smarter the next day and improve your planning strategies.
Final thoughts:
These easy to implement tips can help you stop procrastinating. If starting all five steps seems overwhelming, just start with one. For example, start with writing down your top three priorities each morning. Or write them down the night before. Keep your list handy that you see it as soon as you wake up. Focus on your list. Put your attention to those three items on your list. As you accomplish each item on your list, cross it off. Reflect how you feel when you see all the items on your list were completed. When you stop procrastinating, you will find life is a lot smoother and peaceful.
Procrastination fuels anxiety. Whether it’s an action or a decision, stop putting it off. Do it today, your mental health will thank you.
