Understanding our 7 powerful chakras

What are chakras?

You may have heard of chakras when you visited a local health store or you looked in a new age jewelry shop. You may know that each one is a different color.  The purpose of the chakras are to spin to send out and also attract energy in order to keep the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical wellness of the body in balance. Here is some information that will give you a simple understanding of our 7 powerful chakras:

What are chakras?

Number of Chakras

The first thing to understand about your chakras is the number. There are seven chakras and each one has a specific color and function. Each one of the seven chakras is a center of energy in the body. They are aligned from the top of your head and move down the spine. You will see this often in chakra charts depicting the person sitting down in a lotus like meditative position. The chakras start at the head and go to the base of the spine, stopping at the ground or grounding point to the earth.

Purpose of Each Chakra

Each chakra has a purpose. The root chakra is located at the base of your spine and represents money, food, and other survival issues in your daily life. If you are having life struggles, like financial issues or issues with providing for yourself that are leading to stress, you may obtain root healing. The next chakra, sacral, deals with accepting others.

The third, moving up the spine to the head, is the solar plexus and represents self-esteem. The fourth is the most commonly referred to chakra known as the heart chakra, and represents inner peace. The fifth is the throat and represents communication. The sixth is the third eye, which is between your two eyes, and represents wisdom and imagination. The final chakra, located at the top of the head, is the crown and represents the full connection of all the chakras.

Centering and Healing Chakras

Reiki integrates into your chakras as the method which many use to align their chakras or cleanse them. If there are issues in your life, the chakra associated with that issue is the focal point. Your reiki therapist then works to cleanse that chakra and realign all your chakras with cleansing energy.

There are a number of ways to help center yourself and balance your chakras. You can use crystals, reiki healing, and even meditation. The point is, that in order to reset your body, knowing your chakras and what they represent is vital.

 Chakra Gemstones

Chakras are not just parts of your body and spirit. They can also be connected to certain things in nature. For example, there are gemstones that can connect and resonate with your chakras. Knowing these chakra gemstones and how to use them can help your mindfulness and reiki healing journey. Here is what you should know:

Clear Quartz

Clear quartz is the first chakra gemstone to find and start with. There are several reasons for this. The first is the most vital reason. Clear quartz works on all your chakras. It can clear and cleanse all of them and can be used easily in self-healing reiki. You can find clear quartz in many forms, even in a pendant or ring to be worn throughout the day to help cleanse your energy as you go about your day.  This is the ideal starting point for people who are new to reiki and self-healing or new to using chakra gemstones in their reiki healing.

Specified Gemstones

Each chakra has a color, and those colors should be used when finding a gemstone. For example, the crown chakra is associated with a violet or lavender color. This means you would want to purchase a lavender gemstone such as a purple garnet or alexandrite. Red is the color for the root chakra. This can be found in rubies or other red gemstones like red garnet and fire opals. The key to each gemstone is finding one that fits the color of the chakra and feels comfortable to you. You do not have to buy something expensive. The color and the comfort you feel when holding it will tell you if it’s a fit for you.

Chakra Gemstone Kits

Though specific gemstones can be mentioned, chakra gemstone kits should also get some focus. These kits are available at most natural health and healing stores, but may be confusing to some. What you need to know about the kits is that they will work fine for chakra healing and reiki, but only if they have the information you need as someone just starting on using gemstones in your reiki practice. Look for kits that are for beginners, marked with the chakra symbol, and have a chart with them as well. This will help you and guide you until you are comfortable with using the gemstones in your own reiki healing.

You can find these gemstones at most new age and natural healing stores. If you do not have one near you, you can also find them online through specialty stores. Rock and gemstone collecting stores will also have some of them available.
